The King of grouper! The Coral Trout is a highly-prized and sought-after food fish in live fish markets all over Asia. Coral Trout command extremely high market prices throughout the region. The scarcity of wild stock has led to only a handful of hatcheries successfully closing the life cycle of this fish, and hatchery rearing it in a sustainable manner. The larval rearing stages of this grouper is notoriously hard, which is why availability of these juveniles is limited. Please book in advance for this species and its first come, first served!

By far the most popular (newish) hybrid species of grouper farmed in Southeast Asia, the Hybrid 1 Grouper is a genetic cross between the female Brown Marbled Grouper and the huge Giant Grouper. Its popularity lies in the speed at which these fish reach market size. With correct husbandry the Hybrid 1 Grouper can reach market size in less than 5 months! Fry of this species is available all year round.

A relatively new crossbreed is the Hybrid 2 Grouper. This is a genetic cross between the Brown Marbled Grouper and the Camouflaged Grouper. The purpose of this cross is to make up for the fact that the Brown Marbled Grouper can be sensitive to disease if cultured in certain areas with fluctuating water qualities. By crossing the two species, the fish becomes much stronger and more resistant to poorer water quality. The growth rate of this Hybrid is similar to the pure strains of each at around 810 months. Fry of this species is available all year round.

The Brown Marbled Grouper, or Tiger Grouper—as it more commonly known—has long been farmed in sea cages, as well as land-based system for over 50 years. Duration from fry to market-sized fish can be around 810 months. Fry of this species is available all year round.
